Our mission... is to establish an artists' guild and center, cooperatively run & maintained, providing the facilities, educational resources and creative environment necessary to serve the community and support the artistic practices of individuals within the city of Memphis and abroad.

Rozelle Artists Guild is a group comprised of MCA students and alumni. We have banded together in the interest of preserving a close-knit artistic community post-graduation. Although Memphis College of Art has done us all very well in educating us thus far, they cannot aid us in the journey that transpires between graduation day and the start of a career.

In an effort to fill that gap, Rozelle Artists Guild emerged. Originally a group of students that met regularly for collaborative art-making sessions, we quickly realized how working closely together not only proved itself to be the best method of learning about our peers, but challenged and energized us, by constantly subjecting ourselves to critiques. This foundation is necessary to a practicing artist in order to maintain a grasp on concept and quality.

We can work together anywhere, but to include everyone, we are in need of a large space. Rozelle Artists Guild was born and resided in a warehouse at 822 Rozelle Street from March 2007 through November 2008, but the group decided to move on. With the aid of creative problem solving, determination, and hopefully a few kind investors and hefty grants, we are in the market to renovate a large building into a kind of arts community center, with rentable studio spaces, a venue for fundraising events, and workshops/labs for ceramics, photography, painting, graphic design, writing, sculpture, metalsmithing, printmaking, etc.

Rozelle Artists Guild meets every other Sunday night in the conference room at Memphis College of Art to discuss business, event planning, collaborations with other arts organizations, and potential collective art projects. Anyone is welcome to attend, and meeting times are regularly posted on the Get Involved page.
